REGULATIONS ON WORKING IN LIMITED SPACES
1. What is limited space?
Limited spaces are locations where work space and location for personnel are limited; working locations where there is insufficient or excess oxygen, toxic gases or flammable substances; places where emergency exits are limited, such as pipeline systems, pits, storage devices, etc.
Working in limited spaces is one of the most dangerous jobs that lead to the highest rate of occupational accidents. Every year, many workers are injured and killed while working in limited spaces. It is estimated that only about 60% of risk cases are rescued. Limited work spaces are more dangerous than regular work spaces for several reasons. Every year in Vietnam, there are also many fatal accidents that happen to construction workers in limited spaces, which has not been thoroughly tested for safety and have lacked safety equipment as well as first aid kits. In many cases, tragedies have resulted in heart-breaking consequences for both those in need and those involved in the rescue.
